Since we have started with the American Author project, I already decided the books that I would be reading form her, which was: Crank, Glass & Impulse. During this whole time I was enjoying to read her book just because I love what the books are about and I love her style that she writes in, how she could be describing something like it were to be a part of your life.
After reading some of her background life and also the little author notes that she puts in the book, I could get why she choices the topics for her books. The first two were about her daughter’s life; she says that she didn’t write her story but the book was inspired of her life and what precisely she went through with all her decisions and consequences that she had made in her life and where do bad habit’s get you. Her other book Impulse was inspired by her other daughters life and the way that she helped kids that wanted to end their lives.
Like I mentioned before what I really like about my author is the way that she writes. Because I know that every book does this as well but I just seem to like the way that she does it, she describes everything that happens in a scene, she gives us what is the main character thinking at all times and what she feels for every one that is in her life. I like the way that she has this one party girl in her story and how she seems to always have a new love in her life and how you could just tell that all that one girl wants is for someone to love her, make her feel special. And how she would just put everything on the side just for him.
As I was getting to read Impulse which was a different story, it was kind of confusing at first but then I got the hang on it. Since she likes to let people know the main characters thoughts, in that book there are three main characters and if you don’t pay that close of attention it’s hard to figure out who is she is talking about. But since it’s a story she can’t say one person’s story after the other so she has these chunks in the book were she just talks about one person and then how they saw each other and then she transitions to start talking about that person’s life.
As for my paper I would like to write about how my author writes and what exactly is that I like about it and how she could describe a scene. I could also talk about the book reviews and blog’s that I have seen talking about her books and how the books change their lives and make them think in a different way. Also where she get her inspiration from and how she comes up with these grea

For my paper I would most likely pick the way that my author writes and how she writes that catches my attention and what precisely do I like about her writting, the stlye that she uses. As for the theme that she has mainly talk about I could make my paper about two different kinds of lust, one that you get for a man and another one that you get for desire and needs.
From my last post I have read about one of those lusts that Kristina gets for a man and her needs, They one boy that she has meet since she had a kid and she feels something really strong for him Trey. As for her need the one thing that she desires every day glass(crank) and now she has them both together becaus of Trey her getting her drugs are more easier because Trey's cousin has that. I thought that she would have a different kind of lust one that should be the best thing in the world the relantionship between a baby and a mother but it seems like she is not so deticated to that. She prefers those other two thing then her baby.

Since I finished the book Crank I knew Glass was a continuation of that book and I coudn't wait on reading the book and see what kind of things that had happened. Well now that she has her baby boy I would of thought that she would stop her friendship with the moster, but I was wrong it doesn't take that long for her to find her way back to him. Now this young lady has another boy in her life and his name is Trey, she meet him through her old friend Robyn when she went in look for the monster. After this whole time her daddy hasn''t yet went to go see her and hasn't asked for the baby until one surprising day he calls and leaves a message that he is on his way over her mother's house so that he could spend time with Kristina for her birthday and see his grandson Hunter. And her sister Leigh comes home for a visit and Kristina doesn't like her partner. But they end up being Hunters godparents for his Baptism.
For my paper I could write about all the different personalities that Kristina has developed for each person.

Well I just finished my first book and I noticed that my author has a way with her words. I love the way that she writes and I love what she writes about, to me her books are very interesting and make me just wanting to read more, unlike how some other books could just make me want to go to sleep.
To me this story jst got more intersting, now Kristina is turning 17 and she is going to party big with her love Chase and Crank. She is so excited for her birthday celebration and can't wait. Her and Chase "make love" that day and they both took it as something special. Then Kristina finds out that she is pregnant and she tells Chase and you could tell that he was getting kind of happy because he thought that the baby was his. But then Kristina tells him that its not his and that it's Bredan's. Chase really took that in a good way, because even though he wasn't the father he asked Kristina to marry him and that he would take care of her and her baby. But Kristina told him that it was better if he went to go follow his dream and go to California. Even though Kristina knows that she is having a baby she knows that she needs to stop her addiction but she knows that it's not going to be something easy.

I would have to say that my author does use symbolism because when she describes anything I could actually picture what's happing and what's going to happen. Since Kristina lives a crazy life that I never really done what she had done but you can kind of feel like your part of her world by just reading the words in the book.
Now I am part of the book where Kristina can make her get easier things, Crank and she gots a friend named Robyn and she hooks her up and now she is in love with another boy his name is Chase and she feels like she loves him, more then she loved Adam. Maybe it was because of the way that she felt safe when she was Chase after all that had happened with Bredan, she felt like Chase really did love her back.
For my paper I could write about the different kind of relationships that she has with all these different men, and how she feels different about all of them and how she really feels.

Well what my book has been about, is this girl and what happens the whole time that she was at her dad's and the boy that she loves, Adam. Then once her trip is over it was back to her moms and she didn't really like that idea because she thought that she could not live without getting her buzz. Once she came back she already realized that things would be different, because she was playing a different person, Bree who was very different from Kristina. Because Bree would be things that Kristina would never even thing about. From Bree doing all these bad things it makes Kristina exprience bad things. While Bree wanted to go get high with this new guy named Bredan, while they were high Bredan wanted a little extra something but Kristina never experinced anything like that before so she said no that she didn't want to that she was still a virgin. But he didn''t believe her and just forced her into it. For my paper I could write about the different kind of lifestyles did this one girl have, and why she thinks one part of her should be named Bree and another part of her is still Kristina

"The Monster loves to talk. He jumps into your head and opens your mouth, making uou spout your deepest darkest deceptions. Making you say all the things you'd rather not say, at least not in mixed company."(183)I like the way that my author writes because she uses other words to describe something. In this passage she uses Monster to replace crank, I also like the way that she can describe something. Something that is distinctive about my author is the way that she writes, she mostly makes every other page a new chapter, and what she names the chapter goes along with the story. What I have read was this little girl named Kristina Georgia that had been living with her mom, stepdad, brother and sister she is a good daughter and a good student. She never really see's her dad, so when she went over her dad's for her summer vacation it changed her life. Her dad does crank and because her living there and with all those different people there especially the guy that she likes Adam encourage her to try some. For my paper I could write about how my author from personally experience and from her stories how she feels about crank. Or I could also write about how Kritina chenged her lifesyle and how she changed her name to Bree because of her new lifestyle.

American Author Proposal

Writing Assignment #6: American Author Proposal
I would like my American author to be Ellen Hopkins. The main thing that draws me to her is just the way she writes her books. She writes her books that mostly every other page is a new chapter, but she is also a very interesting writer because even though she has a new chapter in every other page. She writes her story so that it could make sense and that even though it is a new chapter you can’t even notice because she doesn’t start off with a new topic. It makes you think that the whole book is one super long chapter. Even though I have only read one book of hers called Crank it was really good and now I am stating to read her other book which is like a continuation of Crank its called Glass.
Ellen Hopkins does meet the criteria for the American Author project. She is an American meaning that she was born in Carson City , Nevada . Even though her writing is in poems it is also fiction I still believe that she meets the requirements because the stories that she tells are very dramatic and makes you just want to keep reading her books because you get into the story that you just want to know what’s going to happen next. Ellen Hopkins has written enough books so that I can meet the reading requirements she has written four books Crank, Glass, Impulse and Burned and they are all very long. Ellen Hopkins has related to a lot of young peoples lives and makes them think about things twice before they go and do something that isn’t smart. She was being interviewed and said that I write about books that other authors don’t want to look at.
Ellen Hopkins makes a lot of real good books and with a very good interesting topic. I am sure that I could make a thesis-based argument. She makes a lot of big points in the books that she writes about. And also the other people that are involve with the story that she is writing. Even though that they might be in the story for a little while it will still make you think about what was that person thinking about. There are also different perspectives that are in the story as well. I also think that in her first book Crank is a really good book to do this because it’s about a really important issue that people don’t seem to look at. Drug addictions, but it is also interesting how that one trip to her fathers could turn that one perfect daughter into a bad girl with a bad addiction. And how that has changed her life and even though she knows that, she had to switch her name because she thought that her old name couldn’t handle it.
Well I would like to read Crank, Impulse and Glass I’m not so sure yet if I should read Burned because that is a lot of reading but I might, I am not too sure yet. The order of the way that I would be reading her books will be, first I would read Crank even though I already read it but that was a long time ago so I would like to re-read it so that I can re fresh my memory about that book. Then I would read Glass so that I can know what happens after Crank, with that crazy girl’s life. Then last I would read Impulse so that I could get a different kind of story of hers but still in the same way, from what I have heard of that book it seems really good and just as interesting as her other books. But with this one it’s more like what happens in three of the lives of these young people and even tough everything might seem right it’s really not and how all three of them got a second chance in life. The reason why I would read her books in this order is because the first book that she written was Crank her second book wasn’t Glass but I would read that next just because that book is the second part of Crank. Then finally I would read Impulse just because it sounds like a really good book. And if I do read Burned I would read that last.
